Assistive technology was introduced in USA as an Act to help individuals with learning disabilities. Over the years, the use of technology to help the student with learning disabilities has greatly increased. Many schools are incorporating assistive technology into their classroom activities. In the UAE, use of assistive technology has not been fully embraced compared to USA. This is because the government is concentrating more on stu dents without learning disabilities than students with learning disabilities. USA is more conversant with the use of assistive technology than UAE. USA has embraced the use of computer systems that help students with spelling problems and slow in typography (Manikam, 2014).Assistive technology for learning disability refers to any tools, equipments or devices that help students with learning disabilities catch up with or bypass a students disability. Over the past few years, studies show the competency for students with learning disabilities. The assistive technology helps to increase the childs sense of independence and self-reliance. The assistive technology does not eliminate the disability but helps the students cope with them. It helps the students with learning disability to capitalize on their strengths and be in a position to deal with their disabilities.Assistive technology helps to address many learning disabilities.
